ShareDuo ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at shareduo.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Email address. If you join our waitlist or sign up for a paid plan, we collect your email address. We use this solely to contact you about the Service (updates, plan changes, support). We do not sell or rent your email address to third parties.
- Passwords for protected shares. If you choose to password-protect a shared artifact, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of that password. We never store the plaintext password and cannot recover it.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically When You Use the Service
- Hashed IP address. When you upload a file, we record a one-way hash of your IP address for abuse prevention and security purposes. This hash cannot be reversed to identify you by itself, but it allows us to detect and block abusive patterns.
- View counts and timestamps. We track how many times a shared link has been opened, and when it was last viewed. This data is associated with the share link, not with any identifiable individual, and is surfaced to the person who created the share.
- Share metadata. We store the uploaded HTML content, its expiry time, an optional title, and a randomly generated slug and secret token for each share.
2.3 Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to understand how visitors use the Service. Google Analytics places cookies in your browser and collects information such as:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- General geographic region (country/region level)
- Device type and browser
- Referral source (how you arrived at the site)
This data is aggregated and used to improve the Service. It is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, or any third-party tracking beyond Google Analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and deliver the Service (hosting your shares, generating links, enforcing expiry)
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Communicate with you about your waitlist status or account (if applicable)
- Understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. How Long We Keep Your Information

5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use infrastructure providers (including cloud hosting and database providers) to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Google Analytics. As described in Section 2.3.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShareDuo or others.
- Business transfers. If ShareDuo is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via the email address on file (if applicable) before any such transfer occurs.
6. Cookies
We use the following types of cookies:

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Your Rights
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to know. You may request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you and how we use it.
- Right to deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information. You do not need to opt out.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise these rights, please email us at fiona@workduo.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within 45 days.
All Users
Regardless of location, you can:
- Request deletion of your email address from our waitlist or database by emailing us.
- Delete any share you created at any time using the manage link provided after upload.
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed storage of sensitive values, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Shares hosted on ShareDuo may contain HTML content created by third parties. We are not responsible for the content of shared files or for any websites linked within them. This Privacy Policy applies only to shareduo.com and not to any third-party content hosted or linked via the Service.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (e.g., via email if we have your address). Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
